1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using CheqSplit, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the app.

2. Description of Service

CheqSplit is a mobile application that helps users:

• Scan and digitize receipts using on-device OCR and, when available, optional cloud-assisted parsing
• Split bills among multiple participants and organize multi-bill trips
• Share bills with others via codes or links
• Track balances and who owes what in shared expenses
• Optional premium features sold as in-app subscriptions via Apple

3. User Responsibilities

When using CheqSplit, you agree to:

• Provide accurate information when creating bills
• Use the app only for its intended purpose of splitting expenses
• Not use the app for any illegal or unauthorized purpose
• Not attempt to interfere with or disrupt the service
• Respect other users' privacy when sharing bills

4. Account and Data

You may use CheqSplit with an anonymous session, or create or link an account using email and password or Google sign-in (via Firebase Authentication). In all cases:

• You are responsible for bills and data you create or share
• Clearing app data or losing device access may limit recovery unless you used account linking
• We do not provide financial, tax, or legal advice

Subscriptions: Paid plans are in-app purchases processed by Apple. Prices, renewal, and cancellation follow Apple’s terms and your App Store account settings. Subscription status may be validated using services such as RevenueCat, as described in our Privacy Policy.

5. Accuracy of scanning and AI

Receipt scanning uses OCR and may use optional automated interpretation (including cloud-based AI). Regardless of source:

• Results may contain errors depending on image quality, lighting, and receipt layout
• You must verify all items and totals before relying on splits or summaries
• We are not responsible for disputes or losses from incorrect data entry, OCR, or automated parsing

6. Intellectual Property

CheqSplit and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by us and are protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

CheqSplit is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not guarantee that:

• The service will be uninterrupted or error-free
• OCR scanning will be 100% accurate
• The app will meet all your requirements

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages resulting from your use of the app, including but not limited to disputes between users about bill amounts.

9. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms of Service at any time. We will notify users of significant changes through the app. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

10. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to the service immediately, without prior notice, for conduct that we believe:

• Violates these Terms of Service
• Is harmful to other users or third parties
• Is harmful to our business interests

11. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Moldova, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
